OUR MINDMAPS
How we explored the project
Before our members met, we collected many information about our theme: Increase the incomes of small-scale food producers. Then we each created our own mindup to show our findings and questions.
Here are the five mindmaps:
  • Sirui LI: https://mm.tt/1662033444?t=VvFXlaoJeJ
  • Yilin JING: https://mm.tt/1674587912?t=9zKzproW5I
  • Sara-Lisa ADJOUSSOU: https://mm.tt/1675368889?t=1QqgATHe68
  • Hung-Ching HSU: https://mm.tt/1675943769?t=3p4zNjDUBe
  • Cheawoon KIM: https://mm.tt/1672921170?t=Tv1Ac73trw
  • Then we discussed and brainstormed to come up with two original application ideas, from which we chose the final one.

    PROJECT DRAFT
We considered the following parts before we started to design the mockup.
    Context when? where? who? why?
  • By 2030, one of the UN SDG goals of "Zero Hunger" is to double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, in particular women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, pastoralists and fishers. However, small-scale food producers can face challenges to have full access to resources during production activities, including access to land, knowledge and technical skills, financial services, markets and opportunities for value addition and non-farm employment, and this makes .
  • Among all these issues, we consider access to adequate financial services the most important factor to sustainably increase incomes of small-scale food producers, because they can start agriculture production only when they have seed capital to buy equipment or adopt new technology to enhance production. In addition, because they themselves are also one of the important elements of labor production and their production process is greatly affected by nature, they need agricultural production and commercial health insurance to withstand risks.
  • Unfortunately, we notice it is not easy for them to apply for loans from traditional financial institutions because of lacking credit history, proper proof of repayment plan or collateral. Therefore, this project is to help small-scale food producers by improving financial inclusion in developing countries. And traditional commercial insurance rarely involves agricultural production. Farmers are also very reluctant to afford the generally high commercial health insurance. Therefore, this project is to help the small-scale food producers by improving financial inclusion in developing countries.
  • Target for whom?
This project is firstly targeted on smallholder farmers because they are directly related to the supply of main crops for people in unprivileged countries.
    Service offered what? how?
  • We will provide crowd-lending services by engaging citizens in any country, that is Lenders, who have available funds could be the lenders to help small-scale producers. Here are our steps:
  • We will help the Borrowers to create a funding project profile, specifying their products, harvest, amount of funds needed, repayment plan, etc.
  • We will create a team especially to evaluate project risk and then publish the data on our app, so that investors can see it intuitively. We will also track the whole progress of the project to give confidence to the investors.

  • WIREFRAME OF OUR PROJECT
Then we made a wireframe of our project. We drew some drafts of what our application would look like. This gave us the first time to think about how the users would access our app, what the path would be like and how we could improve the user experience.
See more details of our wireframe.

    MOCKUPS & TESTS
Then we designed our mockups on figma. These mockups are demonstrators of our app and they also facilitated the user test process.
We have done two test cycles and improved the mockups for two times. You can see our progress with the links below.

  • TECHNICAL DETAILS
  • We will help the Borrowers to create a funding project profile, specifying their products, harvest, amount of funds needed, repayment plan, etc.
  • We will establish a database of SDG angels (Lenders) who have a fund position to finance these smallholders.
  • Customized lending matching services will be provided after reviewing Borrowers and Lenders profile. Our agricultural experts can provide applicants with free guidance on agricultural production plans, and our financial experts will also formulate personalized loan plans for them.
  • Cooperating big companies (who pay attention to CSR and SDG), we also provide "Loan Insurance" for smallholders.

  • FEATURES
